Welcome to your official guide to setting up your Trezor® hardware wallet. This step-by-step walkthrough will help you go from unboxing your device to safely storing and managing your crypto assets using Trezor Suite. Whether you're using a Trezor Model One or Model T, this guide is designed to make your onboarding secure and seamless.

📦 Step 1: Unbox Your Trezor

Ensure the box is factory sealed and hasn’t been tampered with. Inside, you’ll find:

💻 Step 2: Visit trezor.io/start

This is the only official link to begin your device setup. Here’s what you’ll do:

  1. Connect your Trezor device to your computer
  2. Install Trezor Bridge or use Trezor Suite (Desktop or Web)
  3. Wait for the browser or Suite to recognize your device

⚙️ Step 3: Install Firmware

If your device is brand new, it won’t come with firmware pre-installed (a security measure). Follow the prompt in Trezor Suite to:

🔐 Step 4: Create a New Wallet

  1. After firmware installation, choose “Create New Wallet”
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions on both your computer and Trezor device

📝 Step 5: Write Down Your Recovery Seed

Your recovery seed (also known as a seed phrase or mnemonic phrase) is the most important backup you have. It’s a list of 12, 18, or 24 words.

⚠️ Warning: If you lose your recovery phrase, you lose access to your wallet forever. There is no “forgot password” option in crypto.

A PIN is your first line of defense against unauthorized access.

Using Trezor Suite, you can now:

  1. Click on a wallet/account in Trezor Suite
  2. Click “Receive”
  3. Verify the address on your Trezor device
  4. Copy and share the address safely

📤 Step 9: Sending Crypto

  1. Select the wallet/account you want to send from
  2. Click “Send”
  3. Enter recipient address, amount, and fees
  4. Verify details on your Trezor and approve the transaction

🔁 Optional: Restore Existing Wallet

If you already have a seed phrase from a previous wallet:

  1. Choose “Recover Wallet” instead of creating a new one
  2. Enter your recovery phrase using the device
  3. Double-check your coin balances and reinstall apps

📲 Mobile Compatibility

While Trezor doesn't currently support native mobile apps like Ledger does, you can use WebUSB with some Android browsers or connect to third-party wallets such as:
